Teletubbies Let’s Go
52 x 5 min | Narrative and Music | Motion-capture CG pipeline, in Unreal Engine | Show Runner/Executive Producer
.As show runner I was responsible for all aspects of the creative as well as running the day to day production. Let’s Go has garnered more than 100 million views and over 2.75 million hours watched on YouTube. The show has sold to ITVX UK, CCTV China, and is also available internationally on BBCiPlayer.
Moving to animation was a big leap, but our focus was on paying homage to the original IP. We worked to capture the warm, sunny feeling of the show from the 90s while keeping the iconic elements and silly humour of this beloved brand. Delivering a new offering to a digital native audience and platform.
Strawberry Shortcake
8 x 15 sec | Non-Dialogue vertical shorts | Stop Motion | Senior Producer
Much like Strawberry herself this was a short but very sweet project. Working in a very small team, just myself a production co-ordinator and with a single animator we tried to capture the delicious sweetness of this adored character in simple short animations featuring products available on the market. The 8 episodes have generated more than 40 million views on YouTube since launching 4 month ago.
We had a very small budget for this project, so we had to be smart in order to maximise animation time to create these adorable moments.
Tiddlytubbies
20 x 2 min | Non- Dialogue Narrative | 3D animation | Senior Producer
I came on board as lead producer for this show at the start of season 3, animating in 2D at that time. My directive was to elevate the show’s creative, both visual and the story content. Season 3 generated more than 29 million views whilst season 4 had more than 388 million views.
Bringing an educational consultant on board and working with brand management I steered the show to more appropriate stories whilst still delivering episodes that were driven by platform insights. For series 4 we further elevated, moving to 3D animation and overhauling sound design and score to create a more premium show.
Teletubbies Ready, Steady, Go
10 x 3 min | Music Tracks and Videos | Hybrid Live action and 2D animation | Show Runner
This project was the studios biggest undertaking to date at the time. It was an opportunity to deliver for the wider company against one of their biggest IPs, creating something bespoke for digital platforms that would add value to the brand and bring it to new audiences. We deliberately targeted a split audience to create a music album and accompanying videos that are perfect for preschoolers but additionally leant into and online culture around the brand that focused on the weirder, wackier elements of the IP. We wanted to join the conversation online and create something self referential that went on to kick of Teletubbies tone of voice, and success on social media platforms.
My role on this project encompassed creative, production management, shoot coordination, on set assistant director and so much more. We had a small team at the time who all came together to pull of an enormous undertaking that we are all very proud of.
Caillou’s New Adventures S5
30 x 5 min | Narrative | 2D animation | Executive Producer
During season 5 of Caillou I was asked to step in as and Executive Producer and steer the ship. My directive was to make sure that platform best practices were being applied and to lend a fresh set of eyes to a show that had been running for a long time.
With the production management team I took steps to bring the production back on schedule and to minimise impact to budget. Creatively I also instigated revision of the scripts to better align to both the audiences developmental stage and to maximise success on the platform.
In the Night Garden
9 x 2 min | Non- dialogue Narrative | Stop Motion | Producer
This was my first Stop motion project and I immediately loved the discipline. The aim was to utilise available product but create stunning content that could seamlessly sit along side the original show episodes on the YouTube channel.
We focused on the set and lighting a great deal wanting it to as much as possible look and feel like the original IP. The story was an opportunity to showcase all the beloved elements and characters from the IP blending with platform best practices and trends. I paid particular attention to the character movement, wanting to make sure that the characters to seem flat or lifeless without facial expression. Posing was extremely important to bring them to life and make this content appealing amongst the live action episodes.
Little People S2
9 x 2 min | Narrated narrative and music | Stop Motion | Development Executive/Writer
When discussion began around season 2 of this series a lot of work was required to get the project green lit. As lead on this initial development I worked to showcase the improvements we intended to make from series 1 both in term of the visuals and the story creative. I worked directly with the client to negotiate and maximise the budget and schedule. The goal posts moved a few times but in the end we were able to pitch successfully to create narrative episodes, and music videos which would reuse the same animation to double the volume of content they would get.
This client project revolved around ensuring inclusion of priority products and meeting brand messaging, blent with platform insights and trends. Once this show was green lit I went on to write one of the episodes, Cat Rescue!
